Summer 2018 Catch up

Wow! This summer could not have come fast enough. It is my first summer as a teacher and although I still have plenty to do for next year, I am so excited to finally have some dedicated time for reading and writing. There are a lot of things going on this summer – potentially moving, trying to do some courses, lesson planning for next year, visiting family,  painting a new house, etc – which mean that ultimately, I actually have an extremely busy time ahead, but I need to fill it with all the most relaxing things possible.

The best thing about July so far, is that I have found readathons which last from the 14th July (pretty much straight after I go on holiday) until the 29th July! So July is just one massive readathon! I have every intention of taking part in all of the readathons, though whether I manage to finish them all successfully is debatable. Wayne is also going to get involved in some of the readathons, which I’m really excited about.

July 14th – July 20th – Summer Biannual Bibliothon

July 21st – July 22nd – 24 in 48

July 23rd – July 29th – 7 in 7 readathon

July 28th – Dewey’s 24 hour readathon

Wayne has promised to get involved with a couple, and he said I just have to let him know which ones, but as he’s just graduated from Uni and needs a bit of a break himself, I think i’m going to be kind. I want him to do the 24 in 48 with me, and then we are going to do the 7 in 7 as a pair (reading 7 books between us).

I think July is going to be my big reading time, because August is probably going to be filled with playing games, visits and then being back to work. I will still read in August, but not with as much dedication as the end of July… probably.

I also am desperate to get back to writing over the summer. So I am planning on writing more blog posts and reviews, and on getting back to some solid creative writing. I want to do some planning in July/August, as I have signed up to a creative writing course in September. It does mean i’m starting a course at one of the busiest points of the year for me, but I don’t think that it is a bad thing at all to dedicate 3 hours entirely to myself and writing – something that was a main source of relaxation for me in the past, but which I haven’t done for a long time.

Well, that is my summer plans, and I have already started them. I will post an update post later today with the beginning of the Summer Biannual Bibliothon. But for now…It is time to get reading!

Happy reading!

    1. The 7in7 will definitely have sprints and lots of activity on Twitter and other platforms. The main aim being to read 7 books over the 7 days! It’ll be great if you join in! I’ll be tweeting mostly and then will put update posts on my blog after.
