#Bronte200

This year we celebrate the bicentenary of Emily Bronte, my favourite author, and member of an incredible and tragic family. To celebrate the Bronte Society will be holding multiple events and exhibitions which focus on Emily Bronte, as well as a book club which is hosted by Lucy Powrie from Lucy The Reader. I am really happy to take part in the readalong throughout the year, and will be posting my own discussions of the novels on my blog – as well as posts about Bronte themed items, non-fiction books about the Brontes, adaptations of the novels, and anything else Bronte themed that I find.

I’m really hoping to also fit a trip in to Haworth this year. I visited a couple of years ago and it was one of the best trips of my life, so I would love to repeat it this year and blog my trip. If I manage to do this I may do my first vlog, to really try to capture the experience, but we will see! I know that Lucy Powrie will be visiting, so I’m looking forward to seeing her videos on it, as well as watching her discussion videos over the year.

So what about the bookclub? Well, if you want to be involved I suggest you watch Lucy’s announcement video.  Here she details the different books that she has chosen through the year, and why she has chosen these. I will also be putting the booklist below, so you can find it here as well! Lucy will be putting up monthly videos to do with the Brontes, and I will be following suit.

This is an amazing opportunity for me to really immerse myself in these novels. There are many I haven’t yet read, and so I am really looking forward to this. I hope it will also be an opportunity for me to learn a lot more about the lives of the Bronte’s and give me an excuse to read a lot more journal articles about them. So there will be plenty more to come. I’m always happy to chat to any one about books, but especially about the Bronte novels, so feel free to comment, and join in the chat! I will also be posting all updates with the hashtag #Bronte200, as will many others, so make sure to follow that on social media!

I look forward to chatting to you all through the year.
