TBRTakedown is here!

And I am so excited. For those of you who are not aware, TBRTakedown is a readathon that runs over 5 days, and the 6th event will be happening on the 18th November – 22nd November. It starts at midnight in your country and is hosted by Twitter account @TBRTakedown

You’re invited to join in on Twitter and to blog or vlog your experience. Do whatever you want, but have fun! The main point of this readathon is to reduce your TBR! And there are 5 challenges to hope you do so. You don’t have to take part in the challenges but it can be really fun.

IMG_2758So here are the challenges below, and my planned TBR.

Challenge 1: Oldest book on your TBR

This could be the oldest publication or the back that has been there the longest. Whatever works for you best.

For this, I have chosen Franny and Zooey by J D Salinger. I really like Salinger and I have been meaning to read Franny and Zooey for a long time. It is a relatively short book – only 100 pages – so I’m sure I will get through it and this book will finally be off my list (after 8 years).

Challenge 2: Most Recent Haul

One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus is my pick for this. I got this last week and promised my other half I would read it as soon as he finished it. He finished it yesterday, so I’ll definitely have to read this during the readathon.

Challenge 3: First Book in a Series

I have given myself a choice here based on how I’m feeling, so I’ll either be reading A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess or Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan. ASBAB is for my YA Bookclub next month, and I picked it up not long ago because I really wanted to read it. I’m kind of excited about the idea. However, I have never read a book by Rick Riordan before, and I feel like Magnus Chase may really appeal to me, so we shall see!

Challenge 4: Continuation in a Series

Unfortunately, I don’t have the second book in the Magnus Chase series, or in the Kingdom on Fire series, so I’m going to have to pick something else. So I’m picking book 7 in the Young Sherlock series by Andrew Lane – Stone Cold. I really enjoy this series, but hadn’t caught these coming out in the last couple of years, so I’m really happy to be catching up.

Challenge 5: Out of Your Comfort Zone

So for me, this would usually be some kind of science fiction, or literary fiction, or something like that. I read most genres, and love to try as many books as I can, or books out of my comfort zone, so I’m really happy about this being one of the challenges. I have a choice for this challenge. Either I will read The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo, because even though I love Leigh Bardugo, I never really read short stories or fairy tales;  or, I will read The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom, I would honestly never really pick up a book like this, but so many people praise it that I decided to buy it and put it on my TBR, now could be a great time for me to read it!

So that is my TBR for this readathon. The event starts in 2 hours, and I am eager to get started. I’m halfway through a book at the moment, and in the middle of an audiobook, so I may also read/listen to these throughout. We’ll see.

Happy reading!
