The Only November Book Haul – I swear

Last month, after giving away a load of books that I was never going to read, whittling my TBR down to 250 books, and then purchasing way too many books that I don’t really need at all, I promised myself that I would not buy any more books unless it was for the YA Bookclub, or Dear Martin. However,…

Things happen and I now have a small book haul… I say small, I think there is about 7 books or so, which is definitely not as small as it should be. No regrets.

Let’s do this!

I won a prize when taking part in Dewey’s 24 hour readathon, which was really fun and an amazing surprise. So they sent me a book of my choosing from Book Depository. I chose V E Schwartz – This Savage Song!

fullsizeoutput_6fcDue to this, I also really needed to go and buy Our Dark Duet, as when I read the first book I will immediately want to binge the second. But it was but one get one half price, and I cannot leave a deal like that behind. So I also got The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden as my second book. I’m not sure I’m going to like this, and honestly, I wanted to pick up Truthwitch, but Wayne made me get this for winter reading, and I couldn’t put up with his cute pouty face any longer, so I hope it’s good. If not, he owes me a book.

IMG_2482Seriously?! Buying books like 2 days apart?! Okay. Let me explain this… I had a job interview on the 31st and was unsure about it. But it was an interview for a job I’ve been wanting for a very long time. It also meant that I missed a massive girls lunch with my mum, aunties, sisters and cousins and I was sad. So Wayne let me get books. But! On the 1st I found out that I got the job! So Wayne let me get books.

I am seeing a pattern here.

As congratulations, he got me a £20 gift card for Waterstones, expecting me to buy 2 or 3 books. But I also had a stamp card almost filled, and my points saved up, and also, book math is pretty much the only kind of math I am good at, so I managed to leave with 5 and I am not sorry!

I got the next two Diviners novels by Libba Bray – Liar of Dreams and Before the Devil Breaks You. I am literally having to hold myself back from picking these up. I’m really in the mood for a 1920s read and I enjoyed The Diviners so much. Plus it is fresh in my mind. But I have other reading that I must do first.

As my NaNoWriMo is going to have a connection to piracy and ships and the like, in really wanted something that I felt could help keep me in a similar world. For this reason, and also because it looks amazing and sounds really great, I got Passenger and Wayfarer the both by Alexander Bracken. I have Passenger on my November TBR.

Finally, because I could get 5 in the way I worked out the deals, and because I just wanted it okay! I also got A Gathering of Shadows by V E Schwab. I have no intention of reading this ‘soon’ as I’m so busy, it’ll probably be a series that I read in February or something, but I now have book 1 and 2 and will grab the 3rd book sometime soon.

This is all before I go to the YA Bookclub, and before I get a book for the Joe Hill event… so probably another small haul to come soon, but I’m trying to be good… honest.
